Videobomb è un sito dove la gente segnala dei video divertenti o curiosi presi da tutta la rete. Più il video riceve i cosiddetti “bombs” più esso aumenta di importanza e appare in home pag. Da vedere!

Sono iscritto alla beta di MesureMap un ottimo servizio per visualizzare le statistiche del proprio blog, veramente ben fatto! Oggi mi è arrivata un email di Jeff Veen della società Adaptive Path, quella che gestisce MesureMap.

Since its inception, my colleagues and I have seen tremendous potential for Measure Map to influence how people blog, and how they understand participation on the Web. We have always expected it to be big, and as such, our desire was to give Measure Map its start and then send it out into the world to grow and evolve into a strong, meaningful application.

Through the dedication of a fantastic team, along with your tremendous support in the form of feedback, feature requests, and overwhelmingly positive comments, have built a product that is fundamentally different from every other analytics application available today. We’re both grateful and proud.

So I said there was news, and here it is: I’m writing you to announce that Measure Map has been acquired by Google, effective today. For the near term, you will see no difference in its operations. In the not so distant future, you can expect great things from this acquisition. We couldn’t be happier to find such an ideal home for Measure Map, and are thrilled at the possibilities.

While this is a milestone for all of us at Adaptive Path, this sale does not affect how we operate, nor will it alter the structure of the Adaptive Path organization. Adaptive Path is still here, stronger than ever, and it will be for a long time to come. Above all, we remain committed to the principle that superior user experience inspires innovation and creates business advantage.

In poche parole: Google si è comprato pure questo!

Microsoft AntiSpyware cambia nome in Windows Defender e rinnova l’interfaccia grafica.
Il nuovo sistema di protezione è stato rialsciato proprio oggi dal Big di Redmond e fornisce una difesa solida e completa (almeno così si spera ) sempre aggiornata contro spyware e malware.
Windows Defender sarà integrato in Windows Vista, ma è già disponibile la versione beta 2 per Windows xp e Windows 2000 sia per piattaforme a 32 che a 64 bit. La grafica, in stile Vista è molto semplice e ne permette un facile utilizzo anche agli utenti meno esperti.

Windows Defender (Beta 2) is a free program that helps protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software. It features Real-Time Protection, a monitoring system that recommends actions against spyware when it’s detected, and a new streamlined interface that minimizes interruptions and helps you stay productive.

Ricordo che il downloads si può effettuare solo se si ha una versione autentica di Windows Xp.

Gironzolando un pò sui server di Mozilla ho trovato una nightly build di Firefox. Le nightly build sono versioni di Firefox che vengono rilasciate praticamente con frequenza giornaliera e includono le ultime novità appena progettate.

Non ho riscontrato nulla di nuovo nella versione 1.6a1 a parte una modifica nel sistema di tabbled browsing che permette la chiusura di una tab mediante una linguetta posta su essa.

Questa opzione l’avevo già vista a settembre quando il blog Inside Firefox pubblicò un post riguardo a questa nuova opzione che al momento era in fase di test e si poteva utilizzare solo installando una versione apposita di Firefox.

Non ho capito perchè non l’hanno implementata in Firefox 1.5… Comunque per Firefox 2.0 dovremo ancora attendere parcchio tempo, infatti la prima beta è attesa per il 7 aprile, mentre la seconda per il 5 maggio.

A seguire ci saranno le relase candidate, la prima il 26 maggio, la seconda il 7 giugno e la terza il 19 dello stesso mese. La versione ufficiale di Firefox 2.0 invece è prevista per il 27 giugno. Le date potrebbero comunque cambiare durante lo sviluppo del progetto.

La Internet Wayback Machine è passata da 15 a 45 miliardi di pagine archiviate.
Questo, che i navigatori più esperti senz’altro conoscono, è un sito che memorizza milioni e milioni di siti web nella sua enorme cache.
Il bello di questo servizio è che è possibile vedere com’era un sito 1-2-3-4-5 anni fa, come si è evoluto nel tempo, una sorta di preziosa e nostalgica macchina del tempo del web.

Dopo l’uscita della 0.5.9, è previsto l’immintente rilascio della versione 0.6 di Flock

Queste le novità:

1. RSS viewer aggiornato;
2. Nuova barra per l’upload e il browsing di immagini;
3. Nuovo blog editor che utilizza TinyMCE
4. Tagging di foto e post;
5. Accesso semplice ai post che parlano della pagina visualizzata al momento (usando Technorati).
